Only two story papers were produced featuring Lynwood. They were not classics by any means but well worth a read to show Hamilton's ability at creating new schools and characters if nothing else. Chums of Lynwood was published in 1949, Fourth form at Lynwood in 1950, both by JB Publications.
In typical Richards fashion you can see some resemblance between the characters here and in his other works but he never created two characters the same. There is a great deal of Smithy in Wilmot-Jones, Rag is Bunter but with a bit more integrity, Mr Bon is Mossoo and Mr Prance is Quelch but perhaps not so just. We even have the old Lynwood Beeches where characters feeling neither merry or bright can stroll with their hands driven deep into their trouser pockets with a deep pucker on their brow.
Tipton School featuring Bunter Bates also makes a brief appearance. I am not aware of Tipton featuring in any other publication.
There is also a short story featuring Mick of the Spindrift, a Ken King type character. Again I am not aware of this character appearing in any other publication.
Thanks to Michael Bailey you can read Fourth Form at Lynwood and Bunker Bates at Tipton here.
