The Silver Jacket

The Silver Jacket was published in Australia by Arthur Gorfain of Beaconsfield Publications and was published monthly from 1953-1955. The publisher originally wanted to print Greyfriars stories but Richards was not allowed to use the characters as they were still under copyright from Amalgamated Press. Instead 27 Carcroft stories were published, ten of them being reprints from Hutchinson's Pie and the rest original. 38 issues of the Silver Jacket were published but only the first 27 issues contained Frank Richards material.

In the final issue of the Silver Jacket the editor thanked all the artists and members of staff that had made the magazine a wholesome and worthwhile publication. He singled out Frank Richards in particular describing him as a "Dear friend, the worlds greatest writer of school stories". You can see the editorial here.
